David was brought up on a Cumbrian Dairy Farm riding horses from an early age. He qualified from Cambridge in 1988 and has been working with horses and farm animals in the area since 1990. Equine certification with distinction in 1997

Work interest – Horse lameness, reproduction and dentistry.

Laura Stephen - BVSc MRCVS - Director

Laura joined the Isle Vet Group in 2006. She enjoys every aspect of her veterinary work, with particular interests in equine studwork, beef cattle production and soft tissue surgery. Always a keen horse rider, Laura has also built up a smallholding of Aberdeen Angus cattle and rare-breed sheep at home, which she enjoys with her husband and two daughters.

Karen Church - MA VetMB MRCVS - Director

Karen has been with the Isle Vet Group for over 20 years. She enjoys working with cattle in healthcare and reproduction, and general riding horse care. Karen previously hunted the Cambridge University Draghounds and was Chairman of Cambridge riding club. She is now a Pony Club Mum and breeder of Hereford cattle

Oriol Obradors Barat - LV MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Originally from Catalonia (North Spain), Oriol graduated from University Autonomo Barcelona in 2008. After completing an equine internship in the university hospital and working in a mixed practice, he moved to the UK in 2011. Oriol joined the Isle Vet Group team in November 2014. His main interests are equine medicine and ophthalmology. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors (climbing, mountaineering, cycling) as much as he can.

Fiona Hogg - Veterinary Surgeon

Fiona graduated from Cambridge in 2010 and then volunteered in Morocco treating working equines. She joined the Isle Veterinary Group in early 2011 and has a particular interest in stud and foal medicine. Fiona is working towards her RCVS certificate in Advanced veterinary practice. In 2015 she gained considerable experience in Artificial Insemination, working at Twenlows stud farm in Shropshire. Fiona then completed thoroughbred stud seasons in Australia and Newmarket, before returning to the Isle Vet Group in July 2016. Outside of work she likes to travel with her partner.

Jenny Barlow - BVSc MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Jenny graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014 and then travelled to Morocco to volunteer with SPANA to treat working horses and donkeys. Following this she worked in Devon in a mixed practice. Jenny then joined us here at the Isle Vet Group in the summer of 2015, and although she loves the job she does miss the hills. Jenny has a keen interest in equine internal medicine and cattle and sheep herd health.

James Marshall - MA VetMB MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

James qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2015. He has a keen interest in equine medicine and orthopaedics, and coming from a dairy-farming background, also greatly enjoys working with cattle and farm animals. His particular interests are equine dental surgery and upper respiratory tract medicine and surgery.

James spends his spare time training and playing his two polo ponies near Cambridge. He also enjoys going back “up north” to walk in the North York Moors and Dales when his polo ponies aren’t taking up all his spare time(which is very rarely).

Julie Green - Practice Manager

Julie has been involved in client care for more years than she wants to admit. She is proud to claim to be a ‘happy hacker’ and enjoys pottering around the lanes and countryside on her cob Billy. She also has an interest in sheep breeding having successfully been involved with the Regen Charollais flock for many years.

Jo Montesso – Nurse

Jo joined the Isle Vet Group in March 2008 and brought with her 25 year’s worth of knowledge and experience from working in equine hospitals across Cambridge and Newmarket.


Jo has a keen interest in natural horsemanship and spends her free time with multiple companion animals at home.

Kerri Mesher - Receptionist

Kerri joined the team in January 2011 and works full time. Working from the reception desk, she primarily manages the vets diaries on a daily basis as well as day-to-day office duties and anyone phoning or coming into the practice will get to know her well.

From a young age she has always had a keen interest in animals, particularly horses, dogs and cats and lives with her husband Ian, their two cats Neve and Maddy and three rabbits Timmy, Tilly and Bernie.

Keri Whitwell - Trainee Equine Veterinary Nurse

Keri joined the practice in February 2013 and enjoys assisting in all aspects of equine and farm animal work, including taking care of TB queries. She holds a level 3 extended diploma in equine management which she attained from the College of West Anglia in 2013.

In 2016 Keri began Veterinary Nursing at the Open College of Equine Studies. When not dressed in work attire she enjoys spending time outdoors with her Shetland pony, Thunder Pants, who is the company mascot.

Emma Preece – Accounts

Emma has been with the Isle Vet Group since 2013 and whilst supporting the staff in the office her main role is looking after the accounts for the group.

Outside of work Emma enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym, holidays and running a Brownie pack.
