Rosanne Smith - BVMS (hons) MRCVS – Director

Rosanne graduated from Glasgow university in 1992. She has enjoyed working in various practices up and down the country, both mixed and small animal only. Rosanne has had the pleasure of helping pets at the Isle Veterinary Group since the year 2000 and thoroughly enjoys meeting clients and their pets and getting to know them. Rosanne very much enjoys doing surgery and is also happy to perform acupuncture and has had some very rewarding cases with this alternative method of treatment.


During leisure time she enjoys family time spending as much as possible with her husband, three lovely children and her adorable dog.

Jessica Townsend - BVSc MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Jess is born and bred in Hong Kong. She graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 and loved being a student so much that she went straight into education again and completed a Masters in Veterinary Epidemiology with the Royal Veterinary College in 2013. She then worked as a mixed vet in Bedfordshire for 2 years before joining Isle Vets in Dec 2015. She enjoys all aspects of general practice but is most interested in working up medical cases. Jess is a massive foodie outside of work and loves trying out new restaurants so any culinary suggestions are always appreciated! Aside from food, Jess loves fitness training and spending time with her rescue lurcher, Bumble Bee.

Andrew White - BA, VetMB, MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon

Andrew graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2015 with a keen interest in soft tissue surgery. He also gained a Bachelors degree in Pathology while at vet school. During his clinical training he saw practice with us for a few months and liked it here so much he joined the team in September 2015. We were happy to have him as he baked cakes for us. You may notice a slight American accent as Andrew grew up in Texas, coming to Cambridge aged 11. In his spare time, he enjoys Skiing, Scuba diving, wake boarding and running.

Sarah Sutton BSc (Hons) BVetMed MRCVs - Veterinary Surgeon

Sarah qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012. You may recognise Sarah as she has previously worked at Isle Vets in 2013, but left to further her knowledge and skills in medicine, particularly cardiology. Since completing a rotational internship at the Royal Veterinary College in Summer 2016, she came back to the Isle vet team and hopes to continue building up cardiology experience by working with specialists in the area. Sarah lives with her boyfriend, rescue cat Doris and Chester the chinchilla. In her spare time she is a keen hockey player and plays for the local Ely side.

Samantha Knightley - RVN - (Head Nurse)

Sam qualified in 2004. Before joining the Isle Vet Group in 2008, she enjoyed working at the Animal Health Trust as a referral nurse. She has an interest in neurology and physiotherapy and even holds a qualification in human massage and Indian head massage.

Sally Wood - Deputy Head Nurse

Sally started nursing at a veterinary hospital in Hertfordshire in 1988. In 2005, she became a locum nurse at the Isle Vets, after a few other locum jobs she came back to the Isle Vets and loved it so much she stayed! At home she lives with her husband Ron, her dog Darcy and Dave the cat. Sally and Ron love to travel and will always be looking for the next adventure.

Terri French - Deputy Head Nurse

Terri has been working for the Isle Vet Group since 2004. She is passionate about running puppy training classes working with a professional dog trainer and getting to see the puppies progress. She has a keen interest in dog behaviour. When she is not walking her dogs or working on home improvement projects, she loves to snuggle up on the sofa with a good book.

Alice Bugg - RVN

Alice has been qualified as a registered Veterinary Nurse for over 20 years. She joined the Isle Vet Group in August 2015 as a clinic nurse on Saturdays, but during the week works as an Oncology Nurse specialist in a referral centre. When she is not working her life is taken up with running her 3 children around to the various activities they are involved with. Alice enjoy all aspects of nursing & loves the fact that no two days are the same.

Melinda Brown - Kennel Assistant

Melinda joined the Isle Vet Group in 2008. She has spent many years of her working life looking after and caring for many types of animals! In her spare time, she likes nothing better than being at home with her own dogs.

Kayleigh Lewis - Student Nurse

Kayleigh first joined the Isle Vet team as a degree student in Jan 2015 from the Royal Veterinary College and is now working as a full time veterinary nurse student studying at the college of Animal Welfare. She has an interest in animal behaviour. She loves all animals, particularly large breed dogs as they always want plenty of hugs!

Les Smith – Practice Manager

Les joined the Isle Veterinary Group in November 2014 and has brought with him over 25 years of management and customer service experience to utilise within his role. He spends the majority of his spare time with his family, but does like to slip away on occasions to pursue his passion for carp fishing.

Rebecca Seymour - Head Receptionist

Rebecca joined the Isle Vet Group in 2005 working as a receptionist for the small animal branch at the Aldreth site before moving to Ely with the practice in 2006. She has previously helped at the Large Animal branch as a temporary cover as she has a keen interest in horses. Rebecca owns four warmblood horses which she bred herself and enjoys going on riding holidays to Norfolk with one of her horses and pack of six dogs. She is a member of the Cambridge and District riding club and spent eleven years as a committee member for the club. She likes reading crime thrillers and gardening in her spare time.

Since leaving her career as an NHS Manager in London five years ago, Liz has worked at Isle as part of the Reception team. Liz loves living in rural Cambridgeshire and working with all the animals - especially the puppies and kittens.

Tracey has spent her whole life caring for animals. She is particularly interested in breeding, animal behaviour and animal communication. Tracey enjoys horse riding and being out in nature.

Linda Hutchinson - Receptionist

An animal-lover since childhood, Linda’s first job was as a Veterinary Assistant, in the days before Veterinary Nurses. Following a career change and graduation, she spent her working life in management positions in multi-national companies and the Not-For-Profit sector. On retiring from her job as a District Manager for Citizens Advice, she returned to her roots and joined Isle Veterinary Group as a receptionist, now working part-time. For the rest of the time, Linda is on the committee of several voluntary organisations, runs the Ely & District Branch of Cats Protection and is a regular exhibitor at Cat Shows throughout England. She is the proud owner of rescued sheep, chickens and cats, including Biscuit, the National Pet Cat of the Year 2015.
